Three Motivation Tips - It Start With a Goal

Do you ever wonder why some people have so much motivation that they can graduate from college at 20, have their PhD by 25 and, have traveled the world by 30 - yet others are the complete opposite when it comes to motivation, and are still living at home with their parents at 40? Do you ever wonder exactly how you can be one of those people who are so motivated, they seem to get and do anything they put their minds to? It doesn't have to be that difficult, all you need are a few motivation tips to boost your day to day productivity and happiness - and guess what? They're all around you.

Most people need simple and easily implemented motivation tips. The vast majority of people who are highly motivated are generally running towards something (a dream, a goal, a desire, etc.), and in some cases, are running away from something (a fear, negativity, etc.). Your best option is to learn from these people and increase your own personal motivation. You need to discover exactly what it is you want to run towards (even if you are running away, there is usually something you are running towards at the same time). The first motivation tip is to find your passion! So, maybe you're 5'6" and known as 'shrimp' on the court.
This shouldn't matter to you. If basketball is your love, then you should play. Whether you want to play for the NBA or just a local neighborhood game, if you can motivate yourself to get out there and start playing, than why let anything else stop you? Motivation tips number two - don't let others determine what you can and can't do. Your professional life is on target, but you personal life is suffering. You find it easy to socialize at work, but lack the nerve and esteem to go out after work to meet new people. Whether you're looking for a soul mate or just some friends, you need to start attending social events and put yourself out on the line. But first, you need to set yourself a goal, i.e. meet ten new people. Don't stipulate about what will happen when you get there, just go.
Motivation tip number 3 is to set a goal, and don't be afraid to break out of your barriers to achieve it. These three easy motivation tips will help you get started. Remember, it all starts with a goal and how you will achieve it - this is an important step. Many who are wallowing in self-pity with a lack of motivation, aren't getting out because they don't have a clear idea of what they want. To most effectively motivate yourself, your goals need to be well-identified and focused. Goals such as "finish my BA within two years by taking 12 units a semester" or "increase my personal happiness in six months by improving my health and well-being through diet, exercise and interpersonal relationships" are much more achievable than nebulous goals. The person who merely says, "I want to be happy", or "I want to lose weight", or "I want to go back to school", is not going to have the same success.

When you narrowly identify your goals, it is easier to make well-thought out plans for them and your levels of motivation are easier to maintain because you start to see daily progress. When you want to maintain a consistent state of motivation, you need to plan and focus on one thing. You can't focus your efforts in several areas, you focus them on the areas that will help you succeed. If you are trying to get your BA, you need to focus, you need to study and you need to dedicate time towards it. It's that simple. The more consistent you are with maintaining motivation in one area of your life, the easier it will be to apply it to others.

Taking on too many goals at once, will just kill your motivation. Just like the old saying goes, "you can have anything you want, but you can't have everything." This may be true, but when you apply the motivation tips from above, you will start to see a difference. It will no longer be 'what you want', instead it will be 'what you can'!
